“Thank you so much for the use of your home. What a beautiful spot. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We didn’t even miss the snow at Christmas! We will be back someday, Mahalo!”

“Aloha! From our family, the Tagata Ohana, we thank you for the chance to spend our down time in your hale. Though it was hot, we had the dock at the wharf to jump off of. The water is so superb! I’ve never encountered anything so clear (the water). I do hope it stays that way for our future keikis. Your kindness sharing your home was deeply appreciated!”

“WOW-this was exactly the kind of place I hoped it would be. It was the first time to Hawaii for our two kids: We all had a splendid time. Thank you so much for sharing your special place with us. You saved us from some hotel on Alii Drve during our hour of extreme need. It was so wonderful to go back “home” and get to meet you. And of course there was “swimming in whale song” as an incredible bonus!

I can see why you love it so much. We will remember our time here with great fondness. Thanks again for sharing your place with us.”

“It’s all about the location! If you’re looking to have a relaxing vacation on the Big Island with easy access to excellent snorkeling every day this is the perfect place to stay. Snorkeling was a priority for our family on our visit to Hawaii. We snorkeled in the morning while the water was clearest and then lounged around the house in the afternoon. We especially liked how the garden and yard was fully enclosed so we had privacy relaxing outdoors. We really felt like locals; a highlight of everyday was walking down to the water to see the sunset with the rest of the neighborhood.”

“Had I done my research, I would have realized Keala Kai is quite literally a short walk from Kealakekua Bay, and we were all blown away by the location when we initially pulled up. We took full advantage and started each morning of our trip snorkeling in the bay and the hosts graciously provide snorkeling gear. It’s about a 30 minute drive (on the most beautiful and scenic road) from downtown Kona, and another fifteen to the airport. The house itself was spotless with a large living room and kitchen, tho we spent most of our time on the Lanai which overlooks a well tended yard teeming with local wildlife, and beyond that, glimmers of the ocean in the distance. The beds are ridiculously comfortable, there are AC units in each bedroom to keep cool and the water is heated by solar. Keala Kai was the perfect choice and home base for all of our adventures around the island, I highly recommend!”

“We had a wonderful time staying in Dawn’s house and would love to visit again! The interior was cozy and cool, and the front and back yard felt exotic and very private. However the star of the show was lanai (veranda). We ate most of our meals out here and it was a great spot to watch the geckos and birds. The house is also right next to the water (you can see a sliver of it from the lanai), and you can watch a beautiful sunset by just walking across the road. The house is also only a 10 minute drive from some of the best Snorkeling in Hawaii at ‘Two Step’. Getting to nearby stores requires a little drive up a winding road, but the views along the way are stunning and make the drive enjoyable every time.”

“Dawn, you had ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING we needed and more!! We enjoyed our time so much…we literally only watched 2 movies in the 10 days we were there (kids included!!). We went to every location you highlighted in the binder and then some and each spot left us speechless:) My mom and I are already talking about coming back next summer:) We stay at Airbnb’s often and yours was the first one that had all the cooking pots, pans, utensils, storage containers, every recreational item we needed and more. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us.”

“We loved this home because it felt like an actual home. So many amenities were provided like plenty of beach towels & outdoor gear. And there was plenty of indoor & outdoor space that my kids who needed some space to breathe could find it easily. And the location… dreamy! There is an amazing National Historical site just 10 minutes down the street that is great for exploring and a snorkeling & picnic area that we used for dinners at sunset. There are window a/c units and the living room stayed pretty warm, but overall we wish we could have stayed there longer!”

“Amazing location with a gorgeous state park across the street. Very convenient to Kona side attractions: snorkeling, hiking, etc. Well appointed and comfortable home. Terrific communication. Would definitely stay here again, if afforded the opportunity.”

“First of all, the owners thought of literally EVERYTHING. The check in process was so smooth. Every cupboard is labeled, so you don’t have to spend anytime opening and closing and reopening and closing every drawer or door. We wanted and wished for nothing that wasn’t already readily available. The Guest Book!! Read the book! I wished I had read it a day earlier because the way the host makes you WANT to do everything is great. I love that they recycle and compost and respect the surrounding environment. None of the other places we stayed offered those HUGE opportunities to be responsible visitors. I loved the restful areas to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery at the end of each full day of fun, sun & sea. Mahalo, mahalo, mahalo”
